I am delighted to announce that in December 2021 I completed and passed the last of the nine exams for the Diplôme Supérieur! As a Diplômée I represent the Dalcroze Eurhythmics approach to teaching and am able to train others to become Dalcroze teachers.
I have had an experience which I wouldn’t change: at times wonderfully inspiring and exhilarating and at other times challenging when coping with the demands of the course and with Covid restrictions. As a First Study violinist I’ve had to ‘work my socks’ off and to learn to ‘let go’ (in a Luke Skywalker manner!) when improvising at the piano. I have had to review my teaching with a magnifying glass and have learned to embed the Dalcroze philosophy in all my teaching.
In the 2 years and 3 months since I started my studies I have completed 9 separate quarantines and taken goodness knows how many PCR and LFT Covid tests. The Diplôme included 6 teaching exams, a choreography, dissertation and piano improvisation exam.
I am now back in the UK and look forward to setting up training. This will be with the Director of Studies for Dalcroze UK and I will follow the Dalcroze Eurhythmics International Exam Board (DEIEB) which offers training for adults leading to the Professional Certificate and Licence. I intend to start a weekly course of modules in May 2022 based in Ealing, West London. Get in touch with me if you are interested in doing the Foundation Course which is the first year of training towards the Professional Certificate, but which is a qualification in its own right.
You are amazing Kaye! What a wonderful news, full of energy. Good luck!
